With over 20 years experience in the financial planning industry, I had dedicated my career to providing comprehensive financial solutions tailored to the unique needs of individuals and families navigating the complexities of aged care, short-term care, and home care. My journey in this field has since changed in direction through my own experience in caring for my mother’s needs after my father's passing in 2023, shaping my understanding and approach to planning in the realm of all aged care services.

However, it soon became apparent to me that there was a significant gap in the market for specialised advice tailored to the home care and aged care sector. As our population continues to age, the demand for quality home and aged care services has skyrocketed, yet many individuals and families find themselves unprepared for the implications that come with planning for this phase of life.  Recognizing this need, I pivoted my focus away from the financial planning aspect and immersed myself in the intricacies and practicalities of helping families arrange home care services or respite and residential aged care.

Personal Journey

My professional commitment to aged care financial planning took on a new dimension when my father passed away in 2023. In the wake of his passing, my mother began to experience increasing care needs. We as a family faced the daunting challenge of balancing our own work/life/family responsibilities with our duty to our mother’s health and well-being.

The experience of caring for my mother has been both heart-wrenching and enlightening. It provided me with firsthand understanding into the emotional and practical struggles that families endure when a loved one requires care. Navigating the complexities of her care needs, from coordinating home care services to managing day-to-day needs, gave me a deeper appreciation for the importance of meticulous planning to ensure that care decisions are made with both compassion and pragmatism.
